Don’t listen to the naysayers and the haters. St. Joseph’s Institute is an incredible place for healing. I’ve been to other facilities, and if the folks speaking negatively haven’t, they have no idea how lucky they are. Most negative folks didn’t go there for the right reasons (there, I said it). This place feels like a home away from home. You sleep in beautifully constructed log cabin style lodges, in rooms that are temperaturely well regulated (unlike a previous treatment center I had been to, we froze the death and they didn’t accommodate us). They feel more like a retreat whereas other facilities feel like hospitals. They have a hot tub (unless you spend $70k to go to a private self pay rehab, you will NOT find a facility that has these amenities for the price), sauna, and lap pool. They offer 3 massages during your stay, acupuncture, yoga, cupping, and essential oils. They have a gym. When it’s nice out you have access to tennis courts, volleyball, basketball court, and jungle gym for kids on visiting days. They offer both faith based and 12 step based recovery, in addition to traditional psychological cognitive behavioral therapy. Your counselor will see you individually twice per week (I was lucky to see my counselor individually 3-4 times during my WHOLE stay at a previous treatment center), in addition to small group sessions with 5-7 total clients. You have music therapy, spirituality, and a nursing class describing common ailments and solutions for those in recovery. Best yet? Once per week the entire community is brought together to air grievances and make suggestions to enhance the treatment experience. This place actually cares about your needs. I could go on, but I’ve made my point, and no, I wasn’t asked to write this, nor am I paid to do so. I’m writing this on my free time because I was that impressed. I found myself and my spirituality again, and for that I am extremely grateful.
This place saved my life! The staff and programs are top notch! I see alot of people complaining about the hot tube or pool being down well those things are nice to have and did work when I was there you are there to deal with your addiction not to have a pool party. If you are serious about getting clean and sober this is the place for you. I was hooked on heroin and dyed once from my addiction but thanks to sji I am about to celebrate 7 months clean and I can tell you it wasn't because of the amenities it was because my counselor and the staff helped me through it and showed me there is life after addiction. The ra's care alot Aaron and Chris were my go to people and they always made time for me I might not have liked the hard truth sometimes but it always was from the heart.
St. Joseph's saved my life. I had been in Rehab 2 times before to no avail. The approach, the facility, staff were all amazing. I know I will never have to go to Rehab again but if God took me down that path be again St Joseph's would be the only place I would go.
I do believe that one DOES have to be ready to surrender to their addiction. But St. Joseph's saved my life. I was battling this disease for 14 years and more seriously the last 5 years. The staff here is absolutely amazing from the Top down - everyone truly cares about each individual. You get out of treatment what you are willing to put in. I now have 4 months under my belt and am doing fabulous!
This place is truly amazing the staff and the counselors even the cooks and cleaning ladies are just awesome they really care about you I have been to other rehabs and this place saved my life the big boss did something for me that I will never forget I will always be so grateful I would recommend this place to anyone I learned so much when I was there and I using it today to stay sober thanks so much for everything!!!
No rehab can fully save an addict unless he or she wants to save themselves. I could easily blame my brother's incredibly quick and vicious relapse solely on the negative aspects of this rehab, but I can't . What I can say is that the fact that there is little to no aftercare plan for patients who leave here is the major reason I cannot recommend it to others. I remember calling my brother's counselor directly asking what the plan was for aftercare and there was a pause and then a very canned reply......we get them meeting lists, give them names of things, etc. My brother didn't have any contact from St. Joseph's after about a month and I remember the disappointment and anger he felt about that. We had zero communication from the rehab during his entire stay. It is a pretty facility and I do believe his counselor wanted to help him and was respectful of him. We liked that they offered some holistic self- care options. We were paying out of pocket so we definitely expected intentional and caring follow-up ,which we did not get. My brother relapsed worse than ever and is tragically almost homeless within 2 months of leaving here. Our hearts are broken and we wake up hoping he is still alive.
This is a fourth attempt to write a precise (and short) review of St. Joseph's Institute for addiction (SJI). So much to be reviewed, said etc.. I end up writing a novel. I guess a good start point would be that SJI is a very wonderful place to obtain help for your addiction problem. I departed the facility with a long list of items that deserved praise, compliments etc... And on top of that, I was a patient at the worse possible time - They had just been purchased by a large company, so there were many concerns of the employees and current residents were worried that they would not be staying in a facility "As described" etc. etc. But the staff handled everything well, yes there were more patients than expected and some moving and shuffling around, some schedule changes and through it all, I would not even once hesitate to recommend this facility to family or friends, co-workers or strangers, Christian or atheists.... It is a darn good facility with a great program. I can not put in order the items that I appreciated most, as they all played a valued part in my recovery and my comfort However, I believe the two most important aspects of the program has to be: 1.) The Christian aspect, very important but certainly not forced upon in any way and 2.) The Staff - Extremely caring and understanding of my situation and never once did i ever feel looked down on for being in the position I was, not even once. Yes, SJI is a very good facility to help you thru from Detox to recovery to prevention of relapse. When you complete your time there, they go over and above to set you up with the follow up care at home - be it concealing sessions, NA or AA Meetings, Intensive out patient, locate a longer term inpatient facility or set you up with the homeopathic oils and herbs that they give to you during your stay for continued holistic approach to your health. Yes, they do care and they do try to set you up for continued success after your departure.....
